Life is like a day at the beach

Both require planning if you expect to get the most out of the experience!

Friday I decided to head to San Diego for a conference. As it would be I turned off my alarm instead of hitting the snooze button and…overslept. Well, I took that as the final sign regarding a business decision I had been waffling with. I prayed for a sign, guess that was it. No worries. I say PLOT TWIST, I’m in San Diego, the sun is shining, it’s 84 degrees, so whats a girl to do? GO TO THE BEACH! WHAT ELSE?!

I decided I can have a great work out, and invest ,an amazing day lounging on the beach afterwards. Even get some writing done if I take the laptop. So off I go. I find the luckiest parking spot ever (take that as confirmation, this is where I was supposed to be instead of a conference). Ready for my workout! no headphones, ughhhhh that bites. I shall not be deterred. Once on the beach I realize that 84 degrees is too HOT for some black workout pants. So after, I go into a tourist shop to relieve my misery. I find the perfect turquoise shorts (Size Medium, who would have ever thought?!?). In the fitting room I’m so happy and relieved to be out of the black workout pants,I decide to just leave the shorts on. (Don’t judge me, LOL store clerk took care of that). The store clerk looks at me in surprise “oh you’re wearing them” HAHAHA not that I can blame her. I admit it’s a bit weird, but I was HOTTTTT in the black leggings.

Workout done, wardrobe updated, time to lay out…OH< snap, no towel to lay on. My only option, my sweatshirt  (wish I would have thought of the towel while I was in the tourist shop). Nothing but death will keep me from laying out on the beach today. So I spread out my hoodie and make the best of it. Thanking goodness, that I’m not as fat as I used to be because there was a time that would have never worked. Comfy cozy, not perfect but good enough. I arrive at my goal, to lay out. I actually ended up falling asleep. A few other things I did not realize about the beach (between cornfields of Iowa and the deserts of Arizona, my beach savviness is a bit on the shy side) sand gets into EVERYTHING even zipped bags. The birds are huge and they are NOT afraid of people. Take a blanket, Bring sunglasses, and water gets hot faster there (well at least it seemed that way to me)

My point is two fold. One, I had a great time in spite of all that was missing or not quite perfect. I may not have had the best, but I made the best of what I had. Two, had I planned better, I could have stayed longer and probably had an even better time.

Ice, Cooler, extra water, Snacks, Sunglasses or a hat, blanket (this one is a total no brainer I know), sandals, shorts, and by all means,  leave the laptop bag in the car because the sun it too bright to see the screen anyway. Had I planned out my trip I would probably still be there. #GameChanger!

Life is the same way, it may be OK as it is. But just imagine how much more amazing it can be when you start to design how you want things to go. Game changer, is to begin to envision your life the way you want it, plan what you will need to make it happen and take action steps to make it happen.
